Reports
Reports are the finalized versions of Ad Hoc views that are intended for presentation and analysis, and allow users to interact with your data and export the final result. In contrast to the exploratory and dynamic nature of Ad Hoc views, reports are best suited to provide a definite and finalized configuration of the fields, filters, and visualizations of your data.
There are two different kinds of reports that you can run through Lambda Analytics (Zoola). You can run an Out-of-the-Box report immediately from the Public Artifacts in the Repository. You can also create an Ad Hoc view and save it as a custom report from the Private Artifacts in the Repository.
Once a copy of an Ad Hoc view has been saved as a report, the new copy has a set inclusion of fields, and all analysis and exploration of the data is then focused on applying input controls to display specific forms of data.
Reports feature two key tools, interactive filters and input controls to help sort your data, and the ability to run the report and update the necessary fields and measure data. When you run a report, it is opened in the Report Viewer. From here, you can personalize and refine your data through inclusion and formatting. You can also export reports for presentation outside of Lambda Analytics or your learning management system.
Elements of a Report
Reports consist of three main sections, two of which are available in exported copies outside of the Report Viewer.
Options Column: Contains all of the designated filters included with the report. Use these sets of filters to select the necessary data to be displayed in the report. Click Apply to save your changes, or Reset to revert them.
Report Viewer Toolbar: Available when running a report in the Report Viewer. The buttons and options available allow you to export, save, and navigate the report. When you export a report, these options are no longer available in the exported copy.
Viewing Canvas: Contains the visualizations of the report (such as the tables, charts, or crosstabs selected in the Ad Hoc view).
Report Viewer
The Report Viewer allows you to view a report, export content to various output formats, and apply formatting, sorting, and filters to control how the data is displayed.
To open a report in the Report Viewer:
1. From the Lambda Analytics homepage, click the View under the Reports header to access the Repository, which will display the list of saved reports.
2. Find your desired report in the Repository list. Double-click on the report name, or right-click the report name and select Run from the context menu.
In the Repository, you can also select the report row and click Run on the toolbar. The report will then open in the Report Viewer.
Sorting a Report
You can also sort data in the report output interactively, such as sorting the data alphabetically in ascending or descending order within each city listed in the Accounts Report.
To interactively sort report output:
1. As you run the type of report, click on the column you would like to use for sorting the report.
2. Click on the Sort Ascending or Sort Descending icons. The report refreshes, and data appears sorted by the selected column in the selected order.
NOTE
To change the sort order of the groups themselves, you will have to modify the report query.
